Police and tax inspections

An inspection is a procedure with strict rules — and it is not only the inspected party that breaks them. The attorney makes sure the company’s rights are respected and that every violation by the inspectors is recorded and works for the defence.

The earlier defence counsel is engaged, the fewer raw explanations and voluntarily surrendered documents end up in the file. If an inspection is already under way — call: the first hours decide a great deal.

What we do

  • Support and defend during police inspections.
  • Support field and desk tax audits.
  • Resolve tax conflicts and disputes with the inspectorate.
  • Challenge actions and inaction of state authorities.
  • Attend site inspections, seizures and staff interviews.
  • Prepare objections to inspection reports and complaints to higher authorities.

Typical situations

  • A demand has arrived for documents “on all activity for the last three years”.
  • An inspection is under way in the office; employees are being questioned one by one.
  • The audit has ended with a report assessing additional tax.
  • The audit file has been passed to the investigative authority.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Must employees give explanations during an inspection?

Each procedure has its own rules: participation is sometimes voluntary, sometimes mandatory. The universal principle: first clarify the status and grounds, then answer — preferably with counsel present.

Can we refuse to hand over documents?

A demand must be lawful and specific. Unlawful or vague demands are challenged; handing over “everything” almost always harms the company.

The audit ended with additional assessments. What next?

Objections to the report, an appeal to the higher tax authority, then court. Each stage has its own deadline — missing one forfeits the next.
